Dear Parents of Rising 8th Graders:
We are pleased to inform you that Brookwood High School will make available one section of high school Honors Latin I and a number of spots for Honors French I and German I to rising 8th graders in the 2025-2026 school year. These are yearlong courses, therefore, it is a yearlong commitment. Students who complete and pass the course have the option to receive one high school credit, a Carnegie Unit.
The successful completion of the High School World Language course will enable students to take the second year of the World Language as a freshman in high school. This will allow students the opportunity to take additional, advanced language study during their tenure at Brookwood High School.
Each course will be offered daily at Brookwood High School from 7:20-8:16 am. Transportation will not be provided. Therefore, students must have a ride to Brookwood High School and back to their respective middle school. Daily participation is required to be successful in the class, therefore, it may limit before-school opportunities on the middle school campus. Also, excessive tardies or absences may result in removal from the course.
Before signing up, please carefully consider if your student has enough time and dedication to take on an additional academic class into their busy schedule.
We have limited space in each of these courses, and the slots will be evenly distributed between our feeder middle schools, Five Forks and Crews. Student placement will be based on their semester 1 grade in Language Arts. Students must have an 85 or above to be registered for the course. If more students register than there is room, a lottery will be used to select students for the class.
Interested students should use the following link and complete the Google Form by Tuesday, April 15th: https://forms.gle/1JyNLrtRp1K3zrvk8
If you have questions, please reach out to the respective teacher of each language.
