BROOKWOOD COMMUNITY SCHOOL
2026 ONLINE SUMMER SCHOOL SESSION
June 1 - June 24, 2026
ONLINE HEALTH and PE:
1. Freshman PE (Officially called Lifetime Fitness): This course is required for graduation.
2. Freshman Health (Officially called Intro to Health): Also required for graduation.
3. Why take the courses over the summer? Because it frees up one period each semester for your student to take another course they need or desire (e.g., athletes often take Health/PE in the summer, so there will be an available period for them to take a weight-training class). We offer the summer class so rising 9th graders can have some flexibility with their schedules. If taken during the school year, there is zero cost. Additionally, some students stress about the PE class during the regular school year, so they prefer a digital setting.
4. Parents often ask if students can do the coursework from any location if they have a computer and Wi-Fi access, and the answer is YES!
5. The course is 100% online. There is one required face-to-face meeting on Monday, May 18th, or Tuesday, May 19th —mandatory orientation from 6:00-7:00PM in the Brookwood High School Commons.
6. Please note that student work must be completed by the end of the dates allotted for the class.
7. Students need to work daily to complete the two courses; students cannot wait until the last few days and then begin working. This is a day-to-day process.
8. Students must have access to a computer and the internet.
COST:
1. $250 Per Course for GCPS Students, meaning a total of $500 for both classes (Taught simultaneously).
2. Payment can be made by check, credit card, or on MyPaymentsPlus. Cash payments not accepted.
3. IMPORTANT! Be very careful when making payment on MPP that you select the Brookwood CS Health AND PE courses for your student, not GCPS Online Campus Health/PE, Parkview High Health/PE, etc.
Registration on MPP opens 1/27/2026.
4. Once class starts, no refunds are allowed.
CLASS DATES:
1. June 1 – June 24 (17-day GCPS Summer Health/PE Curriculum)
2. All classes are a digital learning format, except for one face-to-face training for all students on Monday, May 18th OR Tuesday, May 19th -mandatory orientation from 6:00-7:00 PM at Brookwood High School.
WHO CAN REGISTER?
1. Current Crews and Five Forks 8th graders.
2. NOTE: Only students who successfully complete the 8th Grade in May will be eligible to take these courses.
HOW TO REGISTER?
1. Register on MyPaymentsPlus under Community School Activities.
WHEN WILL YOU REGISTER?
1. Registration begins on Tuesday, January 27, 2026.
2. Registration closes on Friday, May 18th, 2026, or once the classes are full.
NOTE: IMPORTANT! If you pay on MyPaymentsPlus, BE SURE YOU ARE CHOOSING THE CORRECT CLASS! Choose “Brookwood High School Summer PE and Health for Rising 9th Graders”. You can’t select the first Health/PE class you see because that could be the Health & PE class at Gwinnett Online Campus or Parkview, for example. You must choose the BROOKWOOD Health and PE class. If you have any trouble finding our class on MPP, please leave Mr. Cashman or Ms. Holman a message at 770-978-5064 and we will call you back.
