Joining a Club at FFMS
Five Forks Middle school has a variety of clubs and activities for our students. We encourage all students to get involved in at least one club or activity. At FFMS we know that success in school spans more than just the academic day, it is also about making connections with friends and staff members that last a lifetime. Participating in a club is not only fun, but it also helps to build valuable skills such as communication, leadership, collaboration, and more!

6th Grade Student Ambassadors

The mission of a FFMS Student Ambassador is to make sure our school continues to be a welcoming, caring and inclusive environment. Student Ambassadors will:
- Participate in leadership and team building training sessions.

Art Club

Description:
Art Club is for everyone as long as they have a passion for art! You don't need to have an artistic "talent" or "skill". The purpose of art club is to provide students who have an interest in art, an opportunity to explore a variety of art and craft forms.
It is open to 6th, 7th & 8th grade students and helps to foster good working relationships among students. All students must register to attend. Dues are $10 and includes a club designed T-shirt and all craft materials.

Bronco Buddies

Description:
The Bronco Buddies Club is dedicated to fostering inclusivity and building meaningful friendships within our school community. The club pairs middle school students with buddies from our ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder) and SID/PID (Severe Intellectual and Physical Disabilities) classrooms. Together, club members and their buddies participate in a variety of activities such as social-emotional learning (SEL) sessions, shared lunches, and school events. By encouraging collaboration and understanding, Bronco Buddies aims to create a more inclusive, supportive environment where every student feels valued. The club meets monthly to plan activities and build connections that go beyond the classroom, promoting a culture of acceptance and kindness.

Campus Thrive

Our goal at Campus Thrive is to empower middle school students to impact their communities. We use Biblical principles to increase the student's leadership capacity. With student's interests in mind, students are trained to lead worship, teach, share testimonies, and participate in games.

Cheerleading

Description:
As crowd leaders, the cheerleading team is the connection between the fans and the athletic team. The energy and enthusiasm produced by the crowd can rally a sports team to play better and boost overall morale. It is the cheerleading team’s task to unify the crowd in its efforts.
As crowd leaders, cheerleaders should know the sports they are cheering for and understand how to choose an appropriate sideline chant. As a group, they should begin sideline chants and also make organic chants from the crowd stronger by yelling the words in unison with fans. Cheerleaders preserve school traditions and come up with new ways to improve fan involvement.
As Spirit Raisers, cheerleaders promote and spread school pride throughout the year. Leading up to game day, they should encourage fellow students to show their spirit by setting a good example of school pride themselves. On game day, their responsibility as spirit raisers should be more emphatic. When a basket is made, they display their enthusiasm by waving poms, yelling and celebrating. If spirit is low, cheerleaders should use tactics to increase excitement, including starting a sideline chant, and executing stunts, jumps, tumbling or pyramids.
As Ambassadors, cheerleaders should be model students, both in and out of the classroom.

Chess Club

Description:
The Chess Club is for beginners who do not know how the chess pieces move around the board all the way up to experts who have complex strategies. Participants can expect to engage in friendly competition against opponents of similar abilities.
Playing chess helps to develop many mental skills that are useful in life, such as: logic, strategic and tactical thinking, planning and preparation, and problem-solving. Chess Club provides an opportunity to simply have fun playing the game and making friendships, while building these skills at the same time.

FFMS Coloring Club is a group that is designed for students who enjoy and are interested in coloring, creating collaborative projects, and those who wish to share their colorings. The group will meet either bimonthly. The purpose of the Coloring club is to encourage students to build positive friendships while creating art.

Cultural Fusion

Description:
The Cultural Fusion Club is open to 6th, 7th and 8th grade students who are interested in learning about and celebrating Five Forks’ cultural diversity and amplifying their student voices to create an inclusive, equitable, and just school environment. This group will begin by building their own understanding of different cultures as well as the importance of equity, inclusion, and justice. Club members will lead their middle school peers in uplifting and celebrating Five Forks amazing diversity throughout the school year as well as host cultural celebration events. Cultural Fusion Club activities will align with our social-emotional learning initiative, literacy focus, No Place for Hate initiative and more to include appreciation and celebration while building empathy, embracing diversity and learning advocacy skills. Club members have the opportunity to share their voice and ideas as they engage in YPAR practices. (YPAR or Youth Participatory Action Research is an innovative approach to positive youth and community development based on social justice principles in which young people are trained to conduct and use research to improve their lives, their communities, and the institutions that serve them. Much of the research used comes from students’ lived experiences and observations as an engaged member of the Five Forks school community.) Students’ voiced experiences are key to creating an environment where each and every student feels welcomed and included at Five Forks. Through student-driven school wide initiatives, a learning field trip, and evening events we hope students in CFC grow in empathy and inclusive actions, critical thinking and leadership skills. The Cultural Fusion Club will meet two Thursdays each month after school with staff advisors.

DND club is a social, creative storytelling club. We start with basics, so if your student doesn't know anything about DND, they can learn how it works in this club! Do you find yourself humming songs from your favorite musical? Do your friends and family say you have a dramatic flair? Do you love being on stage? Well, we have got the club for you!!! The Drama Club is the first step to making it on the "big stage"! We will play fun games and learn what it takes to sing and play a role in a play or musical. The Drama Club meets to foster interest in theater and the performing arts for all students. We learn about singing, acting, improvisation, plus theater tech and are preparing our students for a seamless transition to Brookwood Theater Dept.

Girl Talk

Girl Talk is a national organization founded in Georgia where the mission is to inspire all girls to develop the confidence to lead by empowering one girl at a time. The Five Forks Girl Talk Club meets weekly on Tuesdays after school throughout the year. The first club meeting each month will be led by Brookwood High School students who have worked with the Girl Talk staff advisor using the Girl Talk Curriculum. One meeting each month will include an interactive novel read and book talk and the other monthly club meetings will engage Girl Talk members in a variety of topics that may include self-esteem, body image, leadership skills, goal setting, peer pressure, stress management, self-care, friendships, self-compassion, digital citizenship, diversity and more. High school leaders help support their middle school peers in conjunction with staff advisors during these formative years at after school meetings. Girl Talk is a brave and supportive space for ALL students who identify as girls or are nonbinary to share and gain perspective on common experiences that have the potential to make a permanent impact on their lives. Girls in all grade levels are invited to join the Five Forks Girl Talk Club. Teacher and Parent/Guardian referrals are also welcomed.

Intramurals Club is a great opportunity for students to have fun and be active before school. Under the supervision of a certified teacher, students will have the opportunity to play a variety of sports. Students can participate in as many or as few sessions as is convenient; they are not required to attend every session, but they will need to sign up for the sports they will be participating in on the Google form. FFMS Literary Legends 'Zine - Five Forks Middle School's Literary Magazine, Literary Legends, will be digitally published semi-annually. The 2024-2025 school year's theme is "Shades of the Imagination" and submissions are open to students in 6th, 7th, and 8th grade. This is a space to celebrate the talents of our students here at the very best middle school! We are looking for 7th and 8th grade staff members who love reading, writing and art.

The Five Forks Muslim Student Association is a student-led club for Muslim students to spend time in support and connection with each other and to discuss and problem solve challenges faced by Muslim students.
Muslim students from all grade levels are invited to join.
The Muslim Student Association will begin on Monday September 9th, 2024 at 8:20am in Mrs. Chewning's room on the 7th grade hall.

Reading Club

Description:
FFMS Reading Club meets weekly to prepare for the GCPS Reader's Rally Competition. The Gwinnett Readers Rally is a quiz bowl-style competition for students in grades 4 – 12. Students read books from a predetermined list and answer questions about those books. Each Gwinnett County school may send one team of up to 10 players to the Readers Rally. For the 2023-2024 school year, there were 87 teams that participated in the annual county-wide competition at Peachtree Ridge High School. The Gwinnett County Readers Rally Competition is typically held the third weekend in February each year.
Dates and Location Club Meets:
From August - December, Reading Club will meet one day per week. From January - February, Reading Club will meet every morning.

Robotics

Description:
Robotics is designed for 6th - 8th grade students. We have 4 competition teams that compete with other middle schools and high schools around the metro Atlanta region. The club is a consistent competitor at the State Championship and 4 teams from FFMS have competed at the World Championship in the past.
Dates and Location Club Meets:
Robotics meets on Monday afternoons with some Saturdays for competitions. We will meet in the Engineering room from 4:15- 5:40pm. There are 6-8th grade teams that students must try out for.

Scholar's Bowl

Description:
Scholar's Bowl is a trivia based competition that competes regionally around the area. Students answer random trivia and academic questions as individuals and as a team to defeat their opponents.
Dates and Location Club Meets:
Scholar's Bowl will meet in Mrs. Vait's room/OTR Room on Thursdays from 4:15pm- 5:15pm. Pick-up will be in the front of the school.

Science Fair Club

Description:
Soccer Club is for all students interested in playing soccer. The club will meet every Wednesday and have free play & training. The select Boys' and Girls' team will play other middle schools in the county and take part in a tournament in March.
Dates and Location Club Meets:
Soccer Club will meet on Wednesdays from 4:20- 5:30pmpm on the Soccer Field WEATHER PERMITTING. We will begin meeting on September 4th.
Who Can Join:
All students of all skill levels are welcome.
