Five Forks Middle school has a variety of clubs and activities for our students. We encourage all students to get involved in at least one club or activity. At FFMS we know that success in school spans more than just the academic day, it is also about making connections with friends and staff members that last a lifetime. Participating in a club is not only fun, but it also helps to build valuable skills such as communication, leadership, collaboration, and more!

Description:
Love to draw? Want a chill place to sketch, experiment, and hang out with other creative people? The Art Sketch Club is a low‑pressure, high‑fun space where you can explore drawing through quick challenges, creative prompts, and sketchbook activities. We meet every other week from 4:15–5:20 to relax, create, and try new ideas together. No experience needed!

National Junior Art Honor Society

The National Junior Art Honor Society is an American honor society for students in 6th-8th grades. It was established in 1978 by the National Art Education Association to recognize outstanding accomplishments in the visual arts by students.
At FFMS this club is a service based art organization that participates in community service events, makes art, and promotes the arts in our school. If you enjoy making art, like to share your creativity, and want to help others, this is the club for you.
You need one semester of an Art class, with a minimum B average in the class and no major discipline issues to join NJAHS.
Dues are $10.00. Must be paid by the end of September to be considered a member of NJAHS.
If you are a member in good standing when you go to High School you can join the NAHS at the high school level.

Cheerleading

Description:
As crowd leaders, the cheerleading team is the connection between the fans and the athletic team. The energy and enthusiasm produced by the crowd can rally a sports team to play better and boost overall morale. It is the cheerleading team’s task to unify the crowd in its efforts.
As crowd leaders, cheerleaders should know the sports they are cheering for and understand how to choose an appropriate sideline chant. As a group, they should begin sideline chants and also make organic chants from the crowd stronger by yelling the words in unison with fans. Cheerleaders preserve school traditions and come up with new ways to improve fan involvement.
As Spirit Raisers, cheerleaders promote and spread school pride throughout the year. Leading up to game day, they should encourage fellow students to show their spirit by setting a good example of school pride themselves. On game day, their responsibility as spirit raisers should be more emphatic. When a basket is made, they display their enthusiasm by waving poms, yelling and celebrating. If spirit is low, cheerleaders should use tactics to increase excitement, including starting a sideline chant, and executing stunts, jumps, tumbling or pyramids.
As Ambassadors, cheerleaders should be model students, both in and out of the classroom.

Chess Club

Description:
The Chess Club is for beginners who do not know how the chess pieces move around the board all the way up to experts who have complex strategies. Participants can expect to engage in friendly competition against opponents of similar abilities.
Playing chess helps to develop many mental skills that are useful in life, such as: logic, strategic and tactical thinking, planning and preparation, and problem-solving. Chess Club provides an opportunity to simply have fun playing the game and making friendships, while building these skills at the same time.

Coloring Club

Description:
FFMS Coloring Club is a group that is designed for students, grade 6-8, who enjoy and are interested in coloring, creating collaborative coloring projects, and find fun in sharing their artwork. The group will meet bi-monthly afterschool for an hour and 15 minutes, beginning at 4:15 PM, with pickup at 5:30 PM. The purpose of the Coloring club is to encourage students to build positive friendships while creating art.

In Debate Club You Will - Step up, pick a side, and go head-to-head on everything from serious global issues to wild pop-culture debates! Dungeons and Dragons is just a name! It's ACTUALLY a student-run, collaborative story-building game!! You play the game by creating a story in small groups (4-6 people), where one person is the narrator and sets the scene, and then the players each create a character that interacts with the world. Join if you are creative, like being a little silly, and are looking to make friends!

GSA - The FFMS GSA is open to students in ALL grade levels. GSA or Gay-Straight Alliance is a student-run club that unites LGBTQIA2S+ students and cis-straight ally students in a safe space to build community and organize around issues impacting them in their schools and communities in order to create a supportive environment for all. GSA will meet once a month on the second Tuesday of each month. Meetings are before school, starting at 8:15am, with student leaders and staff advisors.

There will be a "stop-by-anytime" cabinet open for knitting club members only. I'll be printing a permanent pass for students' agendas, and they can come "check out" yarn, hooks, and darning materials from a collection of donated supplies. We will have virtual meetings once a month, to be announced and hosted on the Google Classroom, as well as posted at this link.

This is Five Forks’ best group of student musicians! Students are selected based on an audition. Honor Orchestra will have 2 concerts as well as other possible performance opportunities throughout the year. The group only rehearses once a week, on Friday mornings, so attendance is vital.

Intramurals

Description:
Intramurals Club is a great opportunity for students to have fun and be active before school. Under the supervision of a certified teacher, students will have the opportunity to play a variety of sports. Students can participate in as many or as few sessions as is convenient; they are not required to attend every session, but they will need to sign up for the sports they will be participating in on the Google form. In addition to the participation form above, each student must turn in this permission form before participating in his/her first session.

Intramurals will meet 2 days a week on Tuesdays and Thursdays in the FFMS Gym from 7:15am- 8:15am. (students will remain in the gym after Intramurals).

Reading Club

Description:
The Five Forks Reading Club is our school's book club.
Our ultimate goal is to compete in the GCPS Readers Rally Competition.
The Gwinnett Readers Rally is a quiz bowl style competition that tests student's knowledge of the books they have read. Students read books from a predetermined list recommended by Media Specialist, Teachers and Administrators from our county.
The team is open to interested sixth, seventh, and eighth graders.
The county-level competition is held in February at Peachtree Ridge High School. The top four middle school teams from each division move on to the championship at our county's Instructional Support Center. The Division Winners and Wildcard team will then compete for the middle school champion title.

Robotics

Join the Robotics Club and dive into the exciting world of engineering, coding, and innovation! Open to all students, our club focuses on designing, building, and programming robots to complete challenges and compete in local and regional competitions. Whether you're a beginner or a tech whiz, you'll learn teamwork, problem-solving, and leadership skills in a fun and supportive environment.

Sewing Club

Description:
Sewing Club – Sewing Club provides a fun and supportive environment where students can learn essential sewing skills. Students will learn many techniques, beginning with basic needle and thread and expanding to more advanced skills while exploring their creativity throughout the year. Some projects will include making drawstring bags, potholders, aprons, skirts, shorts and other activities as their skills develop.
